Happy New Year!!!!

I know it's a bit late but I wanted to wish everyone a happy New Year. This year my resolutions are: add twenty recipes to my cooking repitoire, go on an adventure with James, and to read more books.

Getting volumes 4-12 of Fullmetal, H2O, An Abundance of Katherine and Garden Spells for Christmas really helps jumpstart my reading resolution.

I hope everyone's new year is off to a great start and I'll post a new review soon.

Sorry!

I'm sorry that I haven't posted very much this month. I've been sick with strep throat and have just been pretty miserable. However I have fully recovered and will be posting a new review within the next twenty four hours. So again I'm really sorry and I will update as soon as possible.

October Wrap up for 1,000,000,000 challenge!

This month I read twenty-five books, including a couple of mangas, one one-act play, and two novellas, all for a total of 7,481 pages.

This brings my current total up to 14,381 pages read. So I'm a little over 1% done with the challenge!

Two of my favorites from this month have been:

Whisper: It's an amazing YA mystery with just a touch of romance. I received this book courtesy of NetGalley, and I also had the opportunity to do an interview with the author Stacey, if you missed out on the interview click here to read it

Stardust: A fantasy romance, finding love where you least expect it.

Over all this month I read more thrillers then anything. I've just been on a kick of them, and I look forward to seeing where November takes me in the realm of books. Hopefully I'll get some awesome new ones for my birthday.

If you want to see what all I've read for this challenge click here. Also if you have any suggestions for books leave a comment and I will try my best to get to it!

September Wrap up for the 1,000,000 Challenge

At the end of my first month doing the 1,00,000 challenge I have read 25 books, 2 one act plays and 6,894 pages.

Some of my favorites from this month were:
The Testing: the entire series was amazing. I am so glad I found it, best YA dystopian series I've read this year.
The Thirteenth Tower: An amazing fantasy novel that I received from NetGalley. It was such a good read and I highly recommend it to fantasy lovers.
The Dead Drop: Best thriller I've read this year. It's full of action and suspense, and it keeps you guessing until the very end. I received this book courtesy of NetGalley.
Reflections of Queen Snow White: A novel about life of Snow White after she gets her happily ever after. I received this book courtesy of the author.

I can't wait to see what new books I find and read in October.

To see a list of all the books that I've read and how many pages the are look here. Thanks for all of the support :)

1,000,000 Challenge!

I have decided to start the 1,000,000 challenge, meaning see how long it takes me to get to a million pages read. I'm starting this on September 1st 2014 and I will do my best to keep it updated with a cumulative total at the end of each month. With a complete total and a monthly total. I'm going to be completely honest here, I will forget and probably not update all of the books that I read, but I will keep it as close to accurate as I can.

The first book on this list is The Tinkerer's Daughter by Jamie Sedgwick for 278 pages.

BookTubeA-Thon, Challenge number 5.

This was my book from a genera I haven't read very much of this year.I chose The Man In The Iron Mask by Alexandre Dumas Pere. It's a classic book so I'm not going to do a review of it, seeing as most people will either read it in school, watch the movie, or never read it.

This is an installment of the Three Musketeers series, it's good but it reminds me why I hardly read classics. They are long, mostly boring, and hard to understand.

BookTubeA-Thon 2014

I have decided to take part in the BookTubeAThon. I know I'm a little bit late considering it started Monday but I feel I'll be able to do it even starting late.

The challenges:

Read A Book With Pictures: Insert random manga here

Start and Finish a Series: Possibly the Inkheart series or the significance series, one or the other

Read A book with red on the cover: Dorthy Must Die.

Read A book that someone has recommended: Ready Player One

Read a book out of the genera that you've read the least this year: Something by Jane Austin

Read a book and watch the book to movie adaptation: Either  a Harry Potter or Hunger Games

Read at least 7 books or an average of 300 pages a day.

Alright even starting late I've completed one challenge and I feel I can knock some of the others out in short succession but we'll see. I'll let you know as I accomplish them :D

The Prayer Box by Lisa Wingate

Starting your life over is difficult, starting your life over with almost no practical experience it's nearly impossible. Add in two kids, a controlling ex, and recovering from an addiction to prescription drugs, Oxycontin in particular, you’re asking for a miracle. Her landlady dying and being hired to clean out her house may not be a miracle in the traditional sense but it very well may be the best thing that’s happened to her since she was a child. Iola (Tandi’s landlady) was a devout woman whose life was dedicated to God and prayer. Her faith may yet be able to help Tandi turn her life around.

Not gonna lie I had a very hard time getting through this book. It’s not that it’s a bad book because it isn't. It just didn't resonate with me, I couldn't connect to it and the message it holds.

That being said it was a very good book, the characters are complex with intricate back stories, the setting is beautifully described. An uplifting tale of faith and strength, and trust. It just didn't click with me, but if it does for you I guarantee you’ll love it.

I received The Prayer Box compliments of Tyndale Blog Network for my honest review which is freely given.
